Also known as Lutein, Zeaxanthin, Carotenoids
Caution. Generally well tolerated; high intakes may cause harmless skin yellowing in some.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids that accumulate in the macula, where they filter blue light and act as antioxidants. Supplementation has been associated with improved visual performance and support for age-related macular health, especially in people with low dietary intake. They are fat-soluble and absorb better when taken with meals containing some fat.
